CORDOBA, Argentina – The USA Rugby Boys High School All-Americans, sponsored by Aircraft Charter Solutions, will open their Argentina Tour Wednesday, July 14, with a scrimmage against Cordoba Academy.

Salty Thompson’s BHSAAs met for a three-day preparatory camp in Dallas, Texas, prior to traveling to Buenos Aires. The team held another session in the Argentine capital before heading to Cordoba, where Wednesday’s match will be played.

Though the scrimmage will last 70 minutes across three periods, Thompson is preparing the team for bigger matchups against Argentina, Italy, and Uruguay.

“Wednesday is a great opportunity to give all our boys a run,” the head coach said. “They’re all keen to show their best, so a three-period format with open subs is ideal.

“We’ll script the first two periods’ lineups then adjust the third to put different combinations together. The goal is to see how the boys match up for the tournament.”

Cordoba Academy welcomed the BHSAAs last year for two matches, a win and loss each, before Thompson’s young men took on Argentina’s U18 squad twice in four days. The BHSAAs lost both matches but focused on improving their performance against one of the better age-grade nations. Argentina competed in this year’s IRB Junior World Championship – an under-20 international competition – in New Zealand against the likes of England, New Zealand, and South Africa.

Thirteen of the 30 players in Argentina were with the team last year and are working towards returning home with a winning record.
